Yeah, currently existing DS games can't use the DSi's WPA, presumably because Nintendo sucks at software design...

I finally got round to paying for my registration but there was a slight problem with it.

Stupid google checkout has allowed me to pay with an old card, payment accepted and all that. So now I've had to send them an e-mail since I'm not paying for it again if this one went through, but also I don't want them accusing me of trying to commit fraud or something.

3) What about cosplay appeals to you?

It's a form of social media.

As mentioned earlier, it's a massive ego boost when someone recognises who you're supposed to be. Receiving praise for a well-made costume is both a compliment of your skill and a confirmation that someone else likes, or is aware of, the same stuff as you. Going to parties or cons with other people who are cosplaying gives more opportunities and is a way of connecting.

I also like getting the little details just right - it's the same impulse that, if I'd been born earlier, would have led to me building scale models out of matchsticks or something.

4) Do you make your own cosplays? What's your opinion on buying premade costumes to cosplay?

I have to make them - they cost too much otherwise! Generally, it's a case of picking the character with the easiest costume that can be done by modding normal clothes - I can't sew.

If people want to buy them, I have no problem. I was tempted to buy this one Tylor cosplay, but it cost £200! That's a lot for something you'd wear once, maybe twice. Mine cost £50, maximum.

5) How do you decide which character to cosplay? What makes you want to cosplay a character?

It's both complex and simple. I take into account closeness to physique, which series is foremost in my mind, which character is the coolest or embodies some quality I wish to have - then I disregard most of that and go with the one with the cheapest, easiest costume. But I keep the other stuff in the back of my mind, because you still have to put some thought and effort into it (the details again). I am lazy, but lazy like a fox, I hope.

6) Do you only cosplay characters that are related to Japanese culture (e.g. anime/manga, video games, idols, etc.)?

If I thought someone would get it, I'd cosplay Western stuff too. But it's generally fitted to the venue.

7) What do you think about original cosplays? So, cosplaying an original character/an original costume on an existing character/gender switch/original spin on a character.

All for it. If they have the creativity to come up with their own characters and make them interesting, they deserve the credit.

8) Do you see role-playing or performing (not just as part of an Omake but throughout a convention) as part of cosplaying? If so, how important?

I love to act, so it's fun to slip into character now and again. If I could, I'd do it throughout a con. But I don't think it's essential.

9) When/Where do you cosplay? (Do you only cosplay for conventions?)

Parties and now my first convention in August.

10) Do you organise a photoshoot when you cosplay and how far do you take it?

I think it's 8. Yomiko (read or die), some minor character (not sure about her name) from Kiddy Grade, some scientist from something, Faith (Mirror's edge), Hinamori (Bleach), Ryomou (ikki tousen), Harima (School Rumble).

I make my own cosplays. Don't care if other people wear premade costumes, but in my opinion, that takes the fun out of cosplay for me.

Depends on how much I like their costume, how easy it is to make, and how much I like the characters. (importance in order)

Humm... Not sure what the question means; can't say I have much opinion about this. As long as they are having fun cosplaying, I think it's all good.

It could be considered as part of cosplaying I guess, but personally I think it's really unimportant.

Interesting costumes, wigs etc. Love seeing everyone else dressed up too ^_^ get to dress up as a character you like and have fun with others.

I've made like one, i've bought/asked for help on the others. I think it means alot more if you buy your own. I just don't have the skills/time to learn the skills at the moment. I want to start making my own at some point though

If I like the character and think i could pull of acting slightly like them. If a character has a particularly cool costume I might want to cosplay them too. I generally like cosplaying characters from animes i've recently started to like.

6) Do you only cosplay characters that are related to Japanese culture (e.g. anime/manga, video games, idols, etc.)? Generally, I have done a scout from the game TF2 which is more western. But I usually prefer to do Japanese related cosplays.

I think it makes it very interesting when people design their own characters, they're usually very awesome looking. If people can make it look good I think making something your own works. I'm not hugely creative so haven't done much like that apart from taking the male scout and dressing a female scout.

I think being able to fit into character makes it more fun and look better, but isn't essential. If you're with a group of people doing a related cosplay then it is fun to have a go at role-playing.

Looking at it from a costume designer's point of veiw,its a great challange to try and differ the costumes and gives me a chance to experiment with different materials and patterns. Mixing that with an anime fan's p.o.v if I see a certain anime or manga, which has really awesome costumes in as well as the character, it becomes like an urge, that really nags at you to make it. But when it's done, you feel super cool.

4) Do you make your own cosplays? What's your opinion on buying premade costumes to cosplay?: Yeah I always always try to make my own, I've only ever brought a couple because I was really pressed for time and materials for an upcoming convention, yet I've no bad oppinion of others who buy their own, only when they enter a compitition based on their cosplay.

5) How do you decide which character to cosplay? What makes you want to cosplay a character?: Well I already stated above, but the character has to be playable, as in, sort of like myself body wise and mentally, as well as having an awesome costume.

So, cosplaying an original character/an original costume on an existing character/gender switch/original spin on a character.- Awesome, I only have the one OC i cosplay as, still working on the other but I really like talking to people about their characters.

If so, how important?: Well I never roleplay in live action, only in the text form, though usually at my conventions, I'm usually alone, so I dont have anyone there with me that knows me that well, but I always try to stay in the mindset of the character I'm dressed as through a con.

9) When/Where do you cosplay? (Do you only cosplay for conventions?): Lol as much as possible, I know its strange, but yes, it may look strange but its a part of me, and makes up most of my wardrobe and really love wearing it out and about.

10) Do you organise a photoshoot when you cosplay and how far do you take it?:
Yeah, I've got a convention at the end of the month, and all of the cosplay's i've planned are based around when all of the other characters of the same anime want to have a photoshoot togther, usually at cons i'll be apart of some group or another.
