As we do every year we will be running a movie screening to welcome any new freshers into the society. The screening is on Friday 25th September at 2pm in the Council Chambers, top floor Steve Biko Building and we will be showing two movies then going for a drink. So, the line up is:

2:00pm - Brave Story - subbed
3:55pm - Laputa: Castle in the Sky - dubbed
6:00pm - Bar

Don't be late if you want to catch the beginning of Brave Story as we only have a 4 hour block so we're on a tight schedule. And also, sorry for anyone who's working who can't make it, you'll meet us at the bar i'm sure though? smile

Then on Saturday 26th September at 12pm we will be going to the Tai Wu for chinese buffet, followed by the pub (probably Athenaeum) and tour for anyone wanting it (we will then meet you at the Pub afterwards). We'll goto the buffet at 12pm before it gets too busy, so meet outside the Student Union Building at 11:30am, to leave at 11:40am, or meet at the Tai Wu for 12pm

This is gonna be an awesome freshers weekend and I can't wait ^-^ I will see you all there!

What room will it be in, the good old Council chambers? Forgive me if you've already said so, but I don't see it written in the post.

Assuming that some of the old-skool members will be there on Friday, I should be along after work for the drinking!

I've been boycotting Tai Wu for a while now, so don't know if I'll be along on Saturday.

I'm sure it has (since the food standards agency will have been checking up on them)...I just don't like the idea of going back to a place that allowed that to happen whilst I was a customer there...

Seems fair enough to me. If you are up for two days in a row, maybe we could see you for some afternoon drinkies perhaps.

On the other hand, a lot of the other places you eat in will be just as bad, and right after the Tai-Wu reopened it was probably the cleanest place in Manchester.

Indeed. For me, it's about knowing that they were taking the piss...I don't see why I should grace them with my custom again.

Just a thought, what time do we have the room from? If it's only open from 2pm we'll never get the movie started on the dot.

Hopefully it's open before hand, but if so from what time? That way we can get there, chat and start drinking even earlier big grin

Yes its 2pm so we're gonna have to be speedy. They gave us no other option x_x we'll manage! If (when) we run over we can blame society before us lol. So if people are there before hand to help with chairs etc i'd appreciate alot big grin more hands the better!

Thanks to a rather lucky shift swap at work I will definately make it to meal on saturday. Ideally would want to make it for drinks on the friday as well, but as I may not make it to the screening before it ends anyone got any idea how easy it will be for me to get into the Union?

ISTR they don't stop people during Freshers' Week anyway, as some legit students haven't got cards yet.

On the other hand, no offence to Stu but I don't think they'll mistake him for a legit student who just hasn't got his card yet stick out tongue

Quite, and you do get mature students returning to university after years in employment.
