Hello
I have seen a flyer in a shop and I really want to come to your Christmas cosplay party (not in cosplay unfortunately, because I am French and my costumes are at home). I would like to know the MUJS a little more before the party, can you tell me when and where to meet some of you?
By the way, I couldn't find any presentation topic, so excuse me if I ought to have presented myself first...

I see you found the thread. By the way, I went ot the school you are assisiting at for this year. It is a big opportunity for you - it'll look really good on your cv.

Next time you could organise a drawing session to make a poster.

on that subject

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO DO A DRAWING SESSION!

I wish people would actually be patient for once and have some faith.

We can only book one room a week therefore have to have drawing sessions either on weeks with no screenings (which to fit stuff in this semester all weeks had to be screenings) or in a place other than the union. If people want to meet and draw etc then i'm sure you can post on the forums and do small get togethers yourselves. The whole drawing sessions thing is sometimes a waste of a room if we need to do a screening, purely because a handful of people turn up and draw, which we could do at any other location. I'd be much happier using the room for other things that can only be done using a booked room unless there really is high demand for a drawing session.

Also I have already discussed with other members of the council that from January or so we will bring up a topic on the forums of designing flyers/poster etc for easter cosplay party so there is plenty of time for everyone to have a go with no pressure/rush.

Alot of people would be interested in drawing classes which is alot more difficult to arrange (if anyone IS interested in running a few drawing classes please let me know cause i'm sure alot of people would appreciate it) otherwise I will arrange drawing sessions for people to meet/draw etc whether it be in the union or not.

This will be a next semester thing as currently we have no more rooms available to book this semester and nothing to design for, yet.

Hope this answers your question - and sorry it's off topic

The simpler solution would just be to create a manga society, and use their one room a week for the drawing classes. Although if you followed the acronym convention thus far you'd end up with a society called MUMS stick out tongue

Still, you'd only need 3 people to set up the committee, I'm sure Alnaught is committed enough to be one of them and find another two - then you'd just need 30 signatures or however many it is this year, and I'm sure most of MUJS would sign on to help out.

That's not a bad idea at all. I for one would certainly support a drawing/manga society and it would solve the room booking problem. I've always been a bit lax on the organising side but would certainly offer as much help as I could.

Sophie, who runs the society, has an agreement with the security staff at the student union. If you enter your name (and any other attendees) on to the list on this thread, you do not need to have a student union card. Just tell the staff your name when you go in and they will check you off the list.

[That is correct, isn't it, Sophie?]

Amusingly, they haven't even checked people off the list the last two screenings. They seem satisfied with the knowledge that a list exists...

Not Sophie (but close enough)

Yeah that is correct although she did say she has a international student card which may be good enough to get in

That shouldn't stop you as long as the new society allows non-U-of-M members to attend society meetings (same as MUJS). But I guess it depends on your travel arrangements, i.e. whether you'll still be living in Rochdale (or wherever) or getting digs closer to Uni.

For drawing sessions I don't think I'd care going so far...! I want to draw together ! I'm even on PaintChat a lot recently haha.
If I do go to a uni in manchester I am still gonna live here because I have 3 cats and nobody else, so I will be travelling far everyday.
But who are you!? How do you know where I live ^^;

Maybe I'm spamming thread here D: sorry-

Dont have actual ID, but being a 6 and a half foot tall indian man with finely shaped and crafted facial hair will probably be enough to get me in.
